…we rested. This CrossFit thing is fun. We have a great time and a lot of times the gym feels like Cheers – where everyone knows your name. The combination of the friendships we make and the invigoration we feel after the workouts makes it hard to stay away. While your commitment to getting fitter and stronger is admirable, do not forget about an often forgotten component to building that fitness – rest.
We beat our bodies up like they stole something day after day. Our bodies need those Rest Days to recuperate so we can come back and continue to hit the WODs hard. If you don’t take a day to recover, it’s a matter of time before your body will let you know that it’s time and unfortunately that’s usually revealed through an injury. You can still come in on your day off but just use the time to work on a skill like handstands, double-unders, or muscle-ups for example. By doing so, you will ensure that your body remains strong enough to continue training and you can still participate in the fun by cheering your gymmates on during their workouts too.
