Forgive me for starting off with a brief rant. While I watch the NBA playoffs, I keep seeing commercials for this new monstrosity from Domino’s Pizza. As if the majority of Americans are not already losing the battle with obesity, Domino’s has seen fit to roll out this carb atomic bomb. Truthfully, no one is putting a gun to anyone’s head forcing them to order one but shame on Domino’s for further contributing to a fast food industry already saturated with poor nutritional choices.
Now I may have lost a reader or two who couldn’t resist calling their local Domino’s, but they wouldn’t likely be interested in the rest of this post anyway. For those still with me, are you unhappy with either what you see in the mirror or on the whiteboard in the gym? If the answer is yes, your solution may be no further than tuning up your nutritional plan. Any of the trainers at CFSB are available to answer questions you may have about implementing a Zone, Paleo or Zone/Paleo diet. I have also heard of some interest in a low-key nutritional workshop or seminar. If you’d like to see one at CFSB, please post to comments and we can see about possibly setting one up on a weekend in the near future.
Just like CrossFit can provide motivation through competition, some people find changing their diet easier when they have accountability. With that in mind, CrossFit Virtuosity issued a 100 Day Six-Pack Challenge. While the challenge refers to a six-pack, the goal is really adaptable to the individual. You decide what nutritional plan you will stick with, how often you’ll hit up CrossFit WODs and commit to track your progress. I encourage any of you interested to drop in on their thread and join the challenge!
WOD – 4.30.09
Four rounds for time:
- 10 Pullups
- 20 Pushups
- 30 Good Mornings
- 40 Squats
Cash Out: Accumulate 2:00 in the handstand position. If doing headstands, no more than 1:00 at a time.

I’m in! Although a six-pack a day for 100 days is going to be tougher than the burpee challenge, I’m willing to give it a shot in the name of improved fitness. It will be gluten-free beer of course because I’m dedicated like that!
Seriously, I’m down to give it a shot. So we’re signing up on their site?
That’s so wierd that you posted this today. I woke up this morning and decided that I was going to get strict about my diet so i started a log of everything i put in my mouth (please, no ‘that’s what she said’, stephen) and i made the goal of not a drop of alcohol for one month. Since i live in the mecca of partying and all my friends booze heavily, this makes for a difficult, almost too lofty a goal…but, I strongly believe if i can get through most of the workouts that CFSB puts forward, then anything is possible. So, starting today, I’m going to need you guys to take a look at my log and tell me what i’m doing wrong/right and where i need to tighten things up a little.
I’m also bummed out. Yesterday was Free Domino’s Pasta Bread Bowl Day. I could’ve carbo loaded and then started a strict diet. It would’ve been perfect!
Sub in protein style In-N-Out cheeseburgers and I will crush that WOD!
Matt, that’s what she said
I seriously would be up for doing this as well. I already started doing a zonish diet a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t started logging it yet, but perhaps I should. Luckily alcohol isn’t a problem for me, but sugar is. I love me sweet stuff.
Marcus you shouldn’t post that picture. It does look tasty.
Marcus, thanks for posting that pic and not the other!! haha.
See everyone tonight, finally!!
Just created my tumblr account. This should be interesting.

you guys have to start the challenge right after I get back from a 10 day booze n binge trip?!! stephen, don’t lie, i know you’re a closet zone-r.
Ruth, what better way to get back on the wagon than with a support group?
Actually, I kinda figured you and Chip would be the least interested in this. LOL

marcus, i am still interested in the nutritional workshop/seminar…keep me posted
still deciding on my diet but i will post what i do on my blog.
rock on everyone!!!
@ Al – Forget a six pack a day! You just need to do the “Storming the Castle” WOD.
And yes, I’d say anyone interested should hop on CF Virtuosity’s site and sign themselves up. They even created a nice walk through for creating a blog to help in tracking your workouts/nutrition (also helps with public accountability).
Do Cocoa Puffs qualify as a dessert now?
