CrossFit Santa Cruz Central recently blogged about some things to consider when choosing your protein for all you zone eaters out there. When you eat protein, your body releases the hormone Glucagon, which essentially tells your body to burn fat. Robb Wolf stressed the importance of choosing “pure” protein, which basically means it had a face (or will have in the instance of the egg) over dairy (milk, yogurt, cheeses), which really aren’t as optimal for the “protein power” we want.
That’s not to say all you Zoners out there have to clear your fridge of all dairies, tofu, etc (unless you want to go Paleo), but when you’re preparing your snacks, try wrapping up a piece of chicken and avocado in a lettuce leaf and pairing with some fruit instead of grabbing the string cheese once in a while.
What do you prepare for your snacks? Post to comments.
