While not a proven fact, real world experience indicates that Crossfit “Cures” hangovers. I put this to the test this weekend in Las Vegas, after a long Friday night of the normal Las Vegas debauchery. 9:00 AM sharp to Crossfit Las Vegas for a workout. Zack and Joe at Crossfit Las Vegas were great hosts. 50% of the class were Crossfitter’s who had traveled in for the Memorial Day weekend. Saturday was supposed to be a day for new folks to come in and try Crossfit out so they put a scalable workout on the board.
WOD
3 Rounds
400M run
25 Wallball
20 Sit-ups
Luke, owner of Crossfit Scottsdale convinced a few of us to sub 10 Sit-ups and 10 Strict (no Kipping) KTE’s. As always like in our gym there was great comraderie and folks were cheering each other on even all of us outsiders. No Stopwatch Whores in this group as Zach and Joe reminded everyone of form and the people cheering were encouraging form over time.
In the end showed up to breakfast with the rest of the party feeling energetic and alive which is more than can be said for everyone else sporting a hangover.
So on Monday make sure you make it to the 10:00 class and work that hangover out, I can almost guarantee you will feel better than if you chose not to show up!
WOD – 5.23.09

Blatantly plagiarized from CrossFit Laguna Beach and CrossFit 603.

Great post Chip! Glad to see you got a good workout in Sin City.
Great morning class today! Damien dropped in and represented San Francisco CrossFit and even coached our ladies with kipping pull ups! Sean busted out his first muscle up and without kipping! Danny came back after a long work trip up north and crushed the wod as usual! Hope to see you all Monday!
Chip tells no tales! For my first CF WOD, the Breast Cancer fundraiser, I barely stopped drinking Jager shots and beer a mere 3 hours before. After the workout, I felt great! It was awesome and as you all know, I kept coming back for more and haven’t stopped since! Looking forward to Monday!
So after I read this post it was clear to me that while Crossfit may cure the physical hangover it does not fix the mental part. The grammar and writing is horrific but still feel great and starting night 2 in Vegas!
Avelyne, that must’ve been a common theme for the fundraiser. I think I reeked of Patron and CrossFit cured me too!
Chip, I’m just impressed that you managed to post at all. Actually it means you were ‘pacing’ yourself with the drinking and were WAY too sober. Slacker.
Ruth has no business calling anyone a slacker . . . we went out for a “beer” last night and she had a coffee. WTF? I have designed a WOD just for her:
50m SPRINT (she is feeling great now!)
1 shot patron
20 Supermans (let’s lay on our stomach to induce vomiting!)
1 shot jager
30 chest to bar (shake it up!)
1 saki bomb
40 burpees (something tells me there will be more than just burping happening here)
1 bloody beer
400m run
runny eggs & bacon! woohoooo (no carbs, she just drank all of them)
LMAO!
nice WOD Murphy! I’ll participate in that! Haha!
Hysterical, Murphy!!! That definitely IS constantly varied and functional.. and intense! As for yesterday, SOMEONE had to stay sober so we could win 3 out of 4 games! I think you, Avelyne, Chip, and Holly have a better shot at competing at this WOD. Not calling you all lushes, but I’m thinking you guys can PR at this way better than me!!
