Drank Kool-Aid: July 08
Fave WOD: Jury’s still out (read between the lines: Chip is too hung over to answer this one)
Least Fave WOD: Sweatfest (sorry Norn Iron!)
Fave Movement: Cleans
Least Fave Movement: Thrusters
DL: 400#
Chip was a closet Kool Aid drinker from the start. Holly outted him by telling us he spent hours watching the videos on the CF main site in the beginning. What closed the deal was the fact that he wasn’t just watching the vids with the hot CrossFit trinity (Annie, Nicole, and Jolie). All his studying and hard work lead inevitably to Chip getting his Level I Certification and becoming a coach here at CFSB. He stepped bravely up into the arena and competed in the So Cal Qualifiers this year. He may say that he was badgered into it, but he valiantly attacked the WODs in 90+ degree heat, at high noon, with zero shade and bloody torn hands. This should come as no surprise to those who know Chip. In fact, his first intro to Fran was during Big Girls Don’t Cry, where he did Fran, Karen, and Grace all in one day!
Chip’s passion for CrossFit and his pursuit of fitness and knowledge has been relentless and rather contagious. Having just returned from Kelly Starrett’s seminar just last week, he has a wealth of new techniques for dynamic warm ups and injury care. Make sure to hit him up for stretches in any problem areas you have.
When not CrossFitting, Chip can be found at various Manhattan Beach dives–just follow the trail of his iPhone, sunglass lenses, and empty Guinness cans. He can also be found strolling on the beach with his lovely wife Holly while enjoying a cup of freshly brewed Sumatra. Have a very happy birthday (aka recovery day) Chip! (hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!)

Wishing you the happiest of birthdays, Chip! I’ll always be motivated by your inspired performance during this year’s qualifiers. Thanks for all that you bring to CFSB!
Hey Chip!
Happy Day! Heard you were all in last night! Well done sir!
Miss you guys!! Hope to see many of you on the 4th of July!
BTW Murphy came home and told me the ladies did Grace today, so, of course I had to rack up the plates and give it a go.
Ugh.

How Josh Everett did it in 1:11, is inSANE!
Happy birthday Chip! Hope you’re feeling up to coming in tomorrow.
Max, the 1:11 time was for Isabel, not Grace — which is even more ridiculously impressive!
Sorry for the late comment…Chip, my man, I hope you’re recovered by now and had a terrific birthday. Thanks again to you and Holly for having everyone over. Decided to give the Crossfit Total a shot:
