Many of you have cleaned up your nutrition considerably since walking through the doors at CFSB. You’ve probably noticed some improvements in your performance and overall sense of well-being. For many, it’s tough to omit items that had previously been staples of your diet (bread, rice, pasta, BEER) in an effort towards improved health. Whether it’s Zone, Paleo, or Paleo-Zone, changing your lifestyle to fit into these diet prescriptions is a lot of work when starting out! That’s why I believe it’s important to reward yourself with a cheat day every once in a while. Many of us have found it to be helpful in two ways:
- You allow yourself a day to treat yourself to the forbidden foods that zap performance.
- After a while of strict adherence to your nutritional plan, you begin to really notice the ill effects of overdoing it with stuff that’s normally restricted from your diet. Eventually, you shy away from these things more and more even though it’s a cheat day.

I think this sets a CFSB PR for most “beer-in-hand” shots for the week. (See Monday)
Bunch of alcoholics, I swear!
I should have made that disclaimer – I didn’t have room for Dodger dogs after the pizza and desert sampling. I think I’m still recovering…
Marcus the week’s not over yet. I’ve got a good one of chip having his first beer after the games!!
Hahaha!….
I have no clue who the person in the pic is but if he prefers Dos Equis then it must be “The Most Interesting Man In The World”.
Hey slackers, what happened to posting your times?! We’re gonna start implementing Fran as a cash out until we get that going!!
my cousin, chris drank the cool aid. i got his brother into crossfit back in november (member of crossfit wilmington, NC). chris has never worked out but is an athletic dude who loves to surf. after hearing enough about it from his brother and myself he decided to give it a try. he start crossfit San Francisco’s entry course this week. they had three sessions and after each i heard positive feed back from him. i found today’s update the most interesting and thought i would share…
“Not to get all weird about this, but I’ve only been doing crossfit for a week and it’s like I’ve been driving out there every morning and smoking crack, because I’m totally hooked. I think it’s a combination of the variability of the program (I’m easily bored), the competitiveness, the fact that it’s outdoors and the fact that I have gotten legitimately stronger in only five days (despite being very sore). Usually when I go to the gym I feel really tired afterwards, but after a morning crossfit workout I get this weird manic energy. I’m thinking that might come from the intensity of the workout, and your body’s hormonal response to being pushed that hard.
P.S. I continue to come in second to this rower guy in the speed workouts, and this big dude in the strength exercises, but I was within one second of that bastard this morning. We did sets of press, push press, push jerk, pushups for time… after a lot of other shit.”
i think its fair to say that for most of us, we got hooked immediately just like my cousin. if you’re wasting your time on a friday night reading this blog, don’t be in denial… you’re addicted too. crossfit is a lifestyle.
