As promised, you guys are now going to be inundated with nutritional info. Mariessa posted about Gluten and its evils a while back and I think it’s time to revisit the topic. For most of you, when you first became CFSB family, we imposed on you the importance of the Zone Diet and staying away from breads and sugar. However, we left it an option for you to eat oameal, bread, tortillas, etc. The trade off was a much smaller portion of carbs (1/2 slice of toast for a carb block), which would leave you hungry. We figured you’d soon get tired of this and choose the bulky broccoli (3 c per block) or spinach (6 c raw per block).
I think this does a great disservice to you guys. The line in the sand has been drawn. No more gluten, folks. Take a look at the photos above and see what gluten can do to you. There are a host of diseases, ranging from diabetes to Addison’s, Crohn’s, Graves’, Lupus, myasthenia gravis, polymyalgia rheumatica, scleroderma, vitiligo, ulcerative colitis, alopecia, autoimmune thyroiditis, rheumatioid arthritis, schizophrenia, depression, chronic fatigue, and recurrent urinary tract infection, that result from gluten intolerance.
If the above named diseases don’t scare you, then how about this: GLUTEN WILL MAKE YOU FAT. It lowers your insulin sensitivity, thus your body will hold on to every ounce of fat it can. What then can you eat? Meats, fish, nuts (yay almond butter!), veggies, and fruit. Get on board, folks, and stand by for PR’s and a healthier lifestyle.
