As most of us adopted the CrossFit lifestyle we drank the kool aid and have been obsessed about getting to the gym and completing a WOD. The post WOD feeling of accomplishment and the lack of perceived intensity of our old other forms of exercise has caused many of us to forake them.
Before we get any further, I am not suggesting anyone head back to the Globo Gym or reduce the number of times a week they visit us at CrossFit Southbay. What I am suggesting is that changing it up is the CrossFit Lifestyle. On a day you can not make it to the gym or you just want something different, go ahead and do something different. Go for a bike ride, run, hike, rock climb, whatever. Have fun as every effort does not need to be as intense as Cindy or Angie. All of these activities support Constantly Varied and Preparing for the Unknown or Unknowable as well as develop skills that you can not inside the box.
The keys are consistency, fun and variety because the more fun you have the more you are going to stick with a lifestyle!
