Recently I had an injury and the dilemma was what to do about training. Since my injury, I have been also asked by several folks about how or if they should train with an injury.
Here is the wisdom I can share, based on my and other trainers experience as well as some professional advice from Dr. Silva and K-Star.
First, from the trainers experience – Stay active and workout, just workout around your injury. Any of the trainers will help modify WOD’s based on your injury so you can stay active and yet not exacerbate your injury. Doing this will help maintain your level of fitness so that when you recover from your injury you ramp back up to fitness will be quicker. This was the advice from another trainer which helped me tremendously.
From our Dr. crowd (Dr. Silva and KStar), the advice again was to continue to work out around the injury. They gave a much more scientific answer. Working out increases blood flow throughout the body including the injured area which will facilitate healing. Additionally if you have a nagging injury make sure you see a professional like Dr. Silva or KStar. It always helps to research your Dr. and find one who is sport minded and even better Crossfit minded as they will be able to provide more valuable advice and guidance as they understand your lifestyle.

Hey serious question, and I love this post:
Anyone have a good physical therapist or doctor to recommend in the area??
My faith in the medical community has been shot down time and time again by professionals who think that exercise is an elliptical. Much appreciated!!!
Funny you should ask since Dr Silva was in this morning and crushed the WOD. A few athletes at CFSB have gone to see him and speak extremely highly of him. Gotta love a doc that CrossFits.
