
Last month, Ruth let you all know about the Counter and how you could go about getting a Paleo-friendly burger over there. I love that place. It’s an awesome eatery to sit down and enjoy a burger with some good friends and family. But what if you’re on the go or just want to grab something quickly and bring it back home? I have to say that In-N-Out is my favorite place to grab a quick, yet Paleo-approved burger. It takes a little bit of work and some specific instructions but you can get yourself some decent fast food there that won’t make you feel like crap 15 minutes after you’ve eaten.
Obviously you’re going to have to skip the fries so if you feel like a lone patty on your hamburger isn’t going to do the trick you can order a Double-Double or, my favorite, the 3-by-3 but you will have to specify NO cheese. Here’s what you tell the person taking your order to ensure Paleo legitimacy:
- Hamburger (Double-Double, 3-by-3, 4-by-4, etc. with NO cheese)
- Protein Style
- Animal Style (optional if you enjoy grilled onions and pickles which I highly recommend)
- Substitute mustard for the dressing
There it is. It’s that easy. I’ve sampled many a fast food burger in my pre-CrossFit days but I have to say this is one of my favorites and, best of all, it’s guilt-free! I even order them this way on my “cheat days” except I add a neapolitan shake to my order (also recommended in moderation but only on the occasional “cheat day”). oh this is delicious, all of my meals ould consist of this if i had the time to wait in line all day at in-n-out for each meal…. thanks for reminding me about this though Al, i shall be on my way to an in-n-out shortly
I know in-n-out isn’t exactly always “fast” food but stay tuned for some other suggestions in future posts
