The next On-Ramp

by Forrest Workout of the Day on January 28th, 2010 7 Comments

Congratulations to the new batch of On-Rampers for finishing their first week of class. They are doing great and will be ready to be in the normal classes in about two weeks. We also have some other new faces coming in the gym. We’ve had an influx of firefighters and relocated CrossFitters, so make sure to introduce yourself. Remy got caught and had to do 30 burpees the other day.

The first yoga class was a huge success. I challenge you all to take a yoga class directly before or after one of the WODs to tell me how it feels. Let me know if you think it makes you think it makes you better at CrossFit. The next class is tonight at 6PM and there is also a class on Saturday morning at 10AM after the 9AM WOD.

Check out the Korean national team practicing their oly lifts. Notice how fast and controlled they are.

WOD 1/28/2009

Hang Snatch 2-2-2 85%
Parallette L-Sit 1-Min x 3

8 Rounds
10 Pull-Ups
10 Burpees

Optional:
Snatch balance 1-1-1
Clean & jerk 2-2-2 65%
Kayaks 10-10-10

Mariessa was definitely right. It’s just hard to adjust to running barefoot. Here’s another article I found posted in an Arizona paper today. http://azstarnet.com/news/science/article_ff3b38ba-08f8-5eee-b0b0-49491d52365d.html

I’ve tried to run barefoot along the strand. It’s interesting just watch out for rocks, gravel, and the occasional pile of dog crap.

Slaughter, I am no POSE expert, but I’ve worked on changing my running style watching those youtube videos and it’s helped me in all kinds of ways. I’ve watched you uphill and have some pointers :)

I want to try 5fingers, but shudder to think how my bunion would feel.

Oh, and re: your ‘challenge’ to us Forrest: yoga after a 1RM DL and potentially some dehydration to boot… definitely a challenge. I can’t imagine after a longer WOD. Let’s just say I built some character suffering through some of the worst charlie horses I’ve ever had.

Good Job to all you WODers!!!!

Yoga after Nancy was painful, LOTS of lactic acid. However, I recovered really well. Not sure if it’s because of Paleo or yesterdays rest day… But I owned a few poses at BIKRAM tonight. :-)
