This Memorial Day we will only have two classes from 10AM-11AM and 11AM-Noon. We will be doing the Lumberjack 20 to honor our fallen soldiers.
We will also have more t-shirts early next week with the same design as our red shirts, but this time they will be printed on the American Apparel tri-blend black and the women’s will be tri-blend racer back tank tops. There is also a new design in the works for a summer tank top. It’s a retro design to mimic the old school Pee-Chee folders. It’s kind of an homage to late 70′s early 80′s fitness done CrossFit style. Let me know what you guys think and we can decide how we want to move forward with the design.
CrossFit South Bay has experienced unbelievable growth in the past few months. Mariessa and I are dedicated to providing our athletes with the best possible facility and coaching available. In order to do that, we need to voice to you what our goals are as an affiliate and hear what your feedback is. I think the best way to convey the message and open up discussion is in a town hall style meeting. We will cover topics like:
- Goals and milestones for the gym
- 1, 3 and 5 year growth and expansion plan
- Programming
- MindBody Online
- Becoming a coach
- Coach feedback. What can we do better?
- Coach expectations. What we expect of you.
- How to get involved
- CrossFit South Bay culture

I have the best job in the world. Every day I think of how lucky I am to be in a position to help our athletes achieve their goals. In return, you provide valuable feedback that helps improve the experience for everyone. The town hall meeting will give you complete transparency behind the scenes of CFSB and what our plans are. Think of it as an annual shareholders meeting where you’re able to tell us anything that’s on your mind. Remember, we’re not 24 Hour Fitness or Equinox, we’re CrossFit South Bay and your input actually matters.
I was thinking we could either plan to have the meeting on a Friday afternoon or Saturday after the morning WOD. What do you think? Will this benefit you and/or the athletes as a whole?

*The snatches are full squat snatches from the floor. You can power snatch it up and overhead squat it as long as you get your hips below parallel.
Either Friday or Saturday work for me… but Friday I can’t get there until 6pm or so. I absolutely would like to attend. Plan it for either F or S and I’ll make arrangements to attend.
BTW – LOVE the design – would prefer to be able to buy a shirt over a tank.
I’ll be there for sure on Friday at either 4 or 5 and possibly Saturday morning.
I like the tank idea for the summer, but the t-shirt is pretty cool too. I definitely like the retro design.

Not a big fan of the shirt. Honestly (please don’t take this wrong) it doesn’t look like a Crossftshirt shirt at all. Just looks like any other shirt you can buy at the mall or from one of those hipster online t-shirt sites. (Eww.)
Thanks for the opportunity have our input heard. Depending on the weekend I may have a problem with a Friday late afternoon/evening or Saturday.?? But most weekday evenings are good.
Will you get T’s in the new design as well?? Or just the Tanks?
Scarlett, no offense taken. We know that one style isn’t going to suit everyone. Our next shirt has more of a hardcore feel to it.

I think a meeting is a great idea Forrest! I think Saturday after the WOD would be better. I am just considering those that don’t have the luxury of a flexible schedule that would like to attend. What dates are you thinking?
I have to agree with Scarlett-not a big fan of the design. Since it is summer we need something bright and eye-catching. But I do live our red CFSB original shirts!!!
I”m there for the meeting..whenever it is. The tank is DOPE. All i need are some sunnies and my board shorts and i’ll be set. I don’t want something that looks like i bought it from a metallica concert.

For those of you who didn’t get the facebook invite (cause you weren’t on my friends list or I accidentally skipped it), my roommate and I are having a housewarming/summer kickoff party at 1:30ish on Saturday and the invitation extends to everyone. It will definitely be a good time…just try to imagine a combination of House Party 2 and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. PeeChee T-shirt: I’ve had that design in my inbox for a week or so and keep looking at it and it’s not growing on me. Maybe it’s that I didn’t grow up with Pee-Chee products and don’t have a base of memories or references to go along with it so with out that, to me, it looks like kitsch.
It looks like something that you’d find in Urban Outfitters that hipsters would wear to make fun of fitness (which is hilarious, but wouldn’t want to wear it). While I think it’s really clever and appreciate the act of having a sense of humor/mocking one’s self and one’s own obsessions (CF), I’m not sure I’d wear it.
At the same time, I don’t like the CF shirts that look like you got them at a Metallica concert (tho I do like Metallica). Nor do I like the ones with the multi-layer designs with roses/skulls/splattered paint/smoke/rhinestones/patches of plaid with “CrossFit” written in olde english/gothic/black letter type font (blech).
All that hating, and I still want to say awesome job to DanO!

I had to look up Pee-Chee. I couldn’t figure out if I was too old, too young or too foreign. Once I saw the old folders, it totally made sense. It’s very well executed. For me I think it’s more the colors and tank that are the issue. Can we do a wife-beater version?

Sounds like the T-shirts I saw in college: “Play Rugby Naked,” “Row Naked,” or Play LAX Naked.” We can say something like: “Fran (sub Helen, Grace, Isabel, Cindy, etc.)–In The Nude!”
