Let the Games Begin

posted by Vin

The culmination of the CrossFit Games season takes place this weekend. Actually, scratch that.  It started yesterday. The 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games, originally scheduled to begin on Friday morning and continue through Sunday, began yesterday with an unexpected and unprecedented full day of competition involving a grueling off-road triathlon at Camp Pendleton followed by a (bracketedobstacle course competition. A scored long jump was also on the agenda for yesterday but was postponed for unknown reasons. Nonethless, three scored events are already in the books.

No spectators or live footage were allowed at Camp Pendleton, so most were unable to see the action first hand. However, this turn of events really has me excited for the remainder of the weekend. Tomorrow is officially a rest day for the athletes but you can check out the action starting Friday.

For those that were lucky enough to get their hands on some tickets, have fun watching it live at the Home Depot Center this weekend. For everyone else, you’re not completely out of luck. General Admission tickets are sold out, but single-day limited access spectator tickets are available for purchase here.

There are also several ways to follow the action from afar. Anything and everything CrossFit Games can be found at games.crossfit.com. You can also watch the Games live on ESPN3 at the times below. Everything played on the jumbotron at the HDC will also be streamed live here. Finally, you can catch live footage of all the Masters competition here.

You can also find the score and rank of each Individual, Masters, and Team by event on the Leaderboard. This will be updated as results become available throughout the weekend.

Not all workouts have been released, but if they have, you can find them on the Competition page along with other good info including the competition schedule and event details.

Last but not least, videos and articles can be found in the News and Media section. There is bound to be footage of Games events here as the weekend goes on.

Do them if you can, but if they’re uncomfortable or if you just don’t have room to get the ball down past your belly, try doing a goblet squat (with the slam ball) and pushing it up into a jerk or a thruster.

For 12 minutes do rounds of…
10 Ball Slams (or Slamball Thrusters/Jerks)

My guess is that they just underestimated the time P1 and P2 would take… pushing back the broad jump. Its just a guess though.

Just watched the videos from yesterday’s P1 and P2. That triathlon is nuts. The organizers really know how to wear you down from the very beginning. Can’t wait to see the rest of the weekend!

    Hey Guys check this out
My 12 year old son and wife were flying back from Mich. and my son was sitting next to 2 guys. He asked them why they were going to LA, they said they were going to watch the games. My son said, hey my dad placed 59th in the open. The 2 guys were stoked and said that was awesome. When my son got home, he was excited to see ME. Imagine getting respect from a 12 year old boy, because I workout at our box. ron
