Spotify is a great new way to share music. It’s kind of like iTunes but better. You are able to pull tons of new songs on demand without having to purchase them. You can subscribe to the service for either free, $4.99/month or $9.99/month. Each service plan has it’s list of benefits. The service ties in with your Facebook profile so you can share any of your playlists with any of your friends. Your friends can just play the playlist just as if it was their own.
As a coach, one of the most annoying things to hear other than “what’s the workout today?” is “Make sure you play good music”. There’s a reason why we are CrossFit coaches and not DJs. Instead of listening to the same songs on Slacker over and over again, it’s up to you to put the music back in your hands. Once you make a playlist on Spotify, you can share it with us and we can play it while you workout. Here’s how you do it.
- Go to Spotify and request a free invite.
- Install Spotify and make sure to link it with your Facebook account.
- Friend me (Forrest Jung) on Facebook
- Make a playlist that is titled CFSB – [Your Name]
- When you get to the gym, just hop on the computer and look up your name on the right side of our Spotify player. Locate your playlist and add it to the queue.
That’s pretty much it. Make sure your playlist is about an hour long. Include any type of music you want. Have fun and it’s now up to you!
